I have a 125 gal plnted tank with 10 discus (and various other species). A few weeks ago a pair and a 2-female trio started spawning. They lay on plants including Italian Vallisneria, Amazon sword and a larger variety of Cryptocoryne wendtii. The prelayimg pecking at the substrate yields dead leaves a few days after laying. I would like to prevent the plant damage, but don't like the looks of the pots/cones. They don't lay on my driftwood or a big cobblestone in the tank. Any ideas for a natural substrate for the fish to lay eggs on?

I don't have much experiance with this but I have heard large pieces of driftwood raised vertically, are sufficient.

I always used a piece of slate leaned up against the side glass or somewhere appropriate for the looks of the tannk.
