Store called them Red Fiji, but I think it's a red melon. I just thought his shape and color was beautiful...........I just switched from gravel to sand so the water isn't the best and the poor guy is stressed. Is this a red melon?

Beautiful fish, very round and decent coloration for that size. I belive they are fuji reds from lucky tropical, an improvement on the red melon line. Do you have any more discus in that tank? juvies especially of that size are comfortable in a group, 6 fish i would say is ideal. Check out Kenny from Kenny's discus, he's in your area and should be getting in some new red fish called flamingos that would go great with your fuji red.

yeah he/she is one of 5 discus in the tank. One pigeon, a Turq, 2 crosses that are stunted that I just wanted to save from the LFS. I'm debating getting one more of the Red Fiji's as there were 4 or 5 of the 15+ in the tank that had really nice shapes and color.

He's growing and starting to color up! Will his body fill in with some red too?
