Man, I bet you were scared to click on this thread! :D

So, I'm going to give this a try. I've set up my webcam in the fish room focused on the challenge tank. If you're bored, curious, can't sleep...whatever cruise on over and check the fish out, see what they're doing. Ok maybe that last one won't work because if it's after 11 p.m. central time...the fish will be asleep too. :) But, do check it out let me know if it works for you and if you find it a good idea or just a waste of bandwidth.

I'm also doing this for my own benefit because I'll be leaving for Christmas tomorrow or Sunday and want to be able to check in on them and see how they're doing for the few days I'm gone. :D

Yeah it would be nice if it were closer, I opted to focus on the whole tank for now, but might just try to focus it on one part. Only thing is you may not see them all the time, but for right now they tend to hang out at one end more than the other so maybe I can just focus it on that end.

Yes, I will definitely have to remember it's there, but with how it's set up right now, would be hard to forget since I have it sitting on an upended 40 on a bucket in order to get it right. :) I'll have to do some more experimenting with placement and all that.

Yep, If I right click and hit zoom in, I get a close up. Very cool. I couldnt get the fullscreen option to work.

Glad you got to see a feeding, they're definitely aggressive eaters! The 10:45 feeding was frozen mysis shrimp...they weren't sure about that at first but seemed to take to it pretty well.

Commentary? And here I was trying to figure out how to kill the sound all together! :)

Yep. All I did was plug my webcam into my laptop, registered with the justin.tv site and basically hit the broadcast button. It finds your webcam and you're set. Really simple. If you've got questions I can try to answer them but I'm sure you'll figure it out just fine! :)

Just like a baby monitor...Sit in front of the tv with yer laptop an keep an eye on em! :D If one starts beatin up on another, you can go in there an give em a time out! ;) :D

It's not up right now. I've been having some issues. I bought a longer USB cord for it so I could run it from my desktop on the basement rather than keeping a laptop in the fish room. The cord turned out to be crap and then my desktop went south too. So...things are on hold for the moment.

I'd like to get something more along the lines of a wireless surveillance camera, but haven't gotten down to picking one out (there's so many choices!) and scraping together the funds to purchase it.

So...long story short, things in webcam world are on hold for the moment. Hopefully, I'll get it going again before the challenge is over! :)
