These two discus laid their eggs an hour ago but their spawning behavior differed from what I have seen before. Please help me on identify these two discus for me. Thanks a lot.

The 1+2 is the same discus and 3+4 is the another one.

1 looks male, 2 looks a bit wider. 3 female, 4 female. that my 2 cents.

Haul a TV set in there and put on the sports channel. the fish that swims up to watch is the male. :^)

Or put a credit card in front of the tank and see which one pecks at it. That one will be a female. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Don't feel too bad. I have male/female pairs and they eat the dang eggs. Now THAT's frustrating.

I couldn't agree more. I have a BD pair and they always eat their wigglers and guard the white eggs. By the way, do eggs turn partially white within an hour? I just observed the eggs they laid turned white within an hour. Does that mean infertile eggs or fungus infection? Thanks!

Have a very nice weekend to all!

It's too soon for fungus, I believe. When they turn white that fast it's because they are infertile. The fungus will come later. Some people recommend Meth Blue for this, but from my observation, fertile eggs don't fungus and fungussed eggs around them don't seem to cause a problem, so I don't bother with it myself.
