Okay, an 8 month old Oriental Leopard Dream appears to be a male who has paired with a 10 month old Venus Leopard female. This is my first discus pairing though I am an experienced aquarist/fish breeder. It has not been a full twenty-four hours yet and there are less than twenty eggs. My question is what are the chances these early spawns will be viable? Should I separate this pair out now or wait until they are older? Will they burn themselves out by repetetive spawning?

Thanks in advance,

Mickey

In my very limited experience, I would think the male is too young at 8 months. I have only had one male that was fertile before 12 months. The female should be mature enough. I would leave the pair where they are now. Most likely the spawn won't be fertile and leaving them together would only strengthen the bond. Good luck with them.
