neither prazi nor fenbendazole will cure hex/spiro, nor will metro for that matter. Metro will only knock the flagellates back hopefully long enough to buy the fish time so it's immune system kicks in. Fenbendazole must only ever be given in food, never in the water, it is nonetheless an excellent general purpose wormer.

Alan, most likely nematodes than hith, fenbendazole is the drug to use first here, use it in food only though, without examing its faeces under a scope it is difficult to know for sure.

You can use the flakes. Powder the fenbendazole, very, very finely, like dust! (use a face mask) lay out some flakes on a tray of some sort. Spray them with water, use a mister like those for plants, you only want the flakes moist/damp not wet. Now evenly spread the fenbendazole over the flakes and allow 30 mins or so in a warm room to dry. Medicated flake food!

btw don't store this food for long, it will deteriorate in a few days because we made it damp!

Another option is to use levimasole in the water.

no, feed it three times a day every other day for 3 treatments, so 9 feedings in total. Follow up a full week later so 7 days after the last treatment repeat. The one batch should be good for this.
