Swimbladder???

This morning my electric dream was headstanding and is somewhat bloated i suspect swimbladder and i know the prognosis is not good should i try and treat this or is it really a lost cause ?

Hi, head standing and somewhat bloated does not say swim bladder...if it was swim bladder then the fish would have little if any control over it bouyancy....

Those were the symptoms this morning and now he has trouble staying low he keeps laying on the surface on his side i really hope it is something else .he was fine last night nothing has changed stats all the same any ideas Graham

Try epsom salt at 2 tblsp/10 gal
maybe it is an intestinal blockage

Hi Arden i put epsom salt in at that ratio this morning that was 6 hours ago i just tried putting him in 10g with lowerd water line but he seamed better in the larger tank any more ideas i dont wana loose him if i can help it i just had 2 electric dreams arrive D.O.A yesterday :(

Ok hes really bloted now if the epsom salt dosnt work by tomorrow morning would it be prudent to suspect bacterial and treat accordingly??why is it its always your best fish that goes down :mad:i do 50% water changes morning and afternoon and wipe down tank once a day its been a week.

Hi,
If after a day and it is looking worse, then I always use Kanamycin.
Some have used Maracyn 2 instead (minocycline)

Great news this morning hes much much better:D:D:D Graham,Ardon thankyou so much i guess it was stupid of me to suspect the worst.
I think mabe i was a bit glum about my doa's and thought this would just be typical to loose him.
I just hadnt given the epsom salt enough time to work ,thank you again its lovely to know theres help at hand .:)
