Mesh for breeding cone

What kind of mesh do people use to cover the breeding cone when needed?

I was told by a local member to just use 1/4" square chicken wire and make a cone. Is it ok to use wire mesh? Will it not add contaminants (rust etc ) to the water?

Did a searching and found some ideas. I think i will use the stainless steel mesh.

I would use the plastic pest protector mesh instead in the garden section at your local hardware store.
