Keep it bare, much easier to keep clean.

Welcome to simply.
BB tanks make it easy to clean depending on the size discus you get. Juveniles are better off with BB but adults can stand a little substrate.

Welcome to discus world! You will be attracted by them for a long time. I prefer bare bottom tank with both sponge filter and power filter.:D
