hi all
i was wondering if you could tell me me if this is a bad idea and if it could cause some bad reactions
my water is 7.9 out of tap and over night is 2 points less than that
so if i dont age my water thats going into my discus tanks would there be ill effects even though its only 2 points ?
would baking soda help?

if by 2 points, you mean 7.7, then i think it would be just fine. Just make sure you add prime to the tank before putting in the tap water. Also try to match the temperature as close as you can.

0.2 swing is nothing...as Ted mentioned watch the temp and keep in mind that tap water has low O2 levels, so splash it in

Do you mean the ph before/after aging ? PH varies some anyway so a change of .2 is hardly noticable to the fish. Don T.

well ive been using a buffer to keep it at 7
i trying to figure out what %of a water change i can do so my discus dont do into shock by using tap without the buffer
i have a 20 gl barrel to do water changes
would 20 gl of a higher ph be much of a shocker on my discus
would you recommend less gls

I would do several 20% changes and check the ph before and after. That is probably very conservative but shouldn't shock the fish. Don T.
