A request please read...

Hi all,
Picture this....You bring two beautiful children into the world, they start school as all other children, running and playing... Then the older girl, SAM, starts having difficulties with moving around... She's diagnosed with a rare disease called Freidreich’s Ataxia...Its a degenerative disease that affects the insulating myelin sheaths around the nerves...Theres no cure... You watch as your daughter loses control of her muscles, and is now wheelchair bound.

Luckily her younger sister Alex doesn't seem affected.....but she too is destined for the same and she gets older the same tell tale signs become apparent.

Now Both Children are in wheel chairs, being raised and cared for by their Mom.. I know this family as they live in my Town... and my wife teaches in this town... Its a hard life they lead....I think what it must be like as a parent to watch this day in and day out.

The home that this Family lives in is in need of serious repair... friends have been trying to get ABC to chose them for their "extreme Make-over Home Edition.". Theres a petition started with over 15,000 signatures, Please consider signing it....Give this family something special that costs you nothing personally.... just a few minutes of your time..

Those children could be yours....or mine.

There are some awful thing's that happen in the world it's always harder when their just kids. Let's hope this family gets the makeover so they can have a smile on their faces for a while. Thank's for sharing Al .:angel:

I will defiantly sign and pass around to all I can. You know this makes me think, sometimes we take for granite what we have and want. Sometimes it is good to try different exercises with your kids and yourself. Try not being able to see for a whole day, or put cotton in your ears so you can't hear anything. Same thing with being in a wheelchair. The amazing thing is that kids seem to adapt better than adults and they keep are the ones at times that keep us going and believing.

I hope this family wins! They deserve it! Thanks for letting us all know about it Al.

Theres so many out there that are probably in a similar boat as this family... but I just thought that with a great community like this one we could help someone that really needs it....Its such a little thing to do, but if it helps that family ....I'll be that much more proud of this community and forum ( hard to imagine that!), and happy as can be for the family.
