Does anybody knows of a reliable source of peat moss?

Any Home Depot, Lowes, or nursery should have Peat. Just make sure their hasn’t been any fertilizers added, IME most don’t..

You will get the best results from peat moss if you can make it a stage in a modular filter design or separately powered by a power head such that the peat moss container has filter floss at both ends to prevent any of the fines entering your water because that can be distracting although not harmful. You want the crystal clear tea effect.

Thanks for the info Larry. I was thinking on using it under the gravel for a planted tank. Is this a good idea?

Hi Ricky

Here in AU the lfs & general stores aren't aloud to sell the Aquarium-Moss for some crap reason, although it dosen't bother me as I make my own soft-water buffer. :D

It is a great idea & many plant-tank enthusiasts use this system. :)

Additional ?'s may be what type of plants, fish, substrate, desired param's do I want.

Start off with around 1/4-1/2 way along the bottom and test daily to see difference in water param's

Regards Armandi ;)
