Today I browse some web sites about discus and accidentally read one experienced breeder's notes:
1) Female discus usually mature at 9~10 months old and can lay eggs about 22~25 times (the number can be higher if no fry hatched)
2) Male discus usually mature at 13~14 months old but the breeding period is much shorter than the females. Their fertility abilities decline at 24 months and become infertile.
But I wonder the "24 months" indicate 2 years old or the time measures from first spawn? I always think male discus is just like human-male can breed life-long.
