Need to dose the new tank with Metro (my biggest one looks like it has hex). Advice has been to dose the whole tank and raise the temp to 90-92. I'm worried about the cardinals and the gold nugget placo.

Background: 6 mo old tank that just added six adult discus. Largest one stopped eating on day 2 and has the white stringy poo -- does not look like worms. Parameters are 7.3 ph, 100 TDS, 0 ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. Constant drip changes 100 gal a day with 50% filtered tap and 50% RO.

Any thoughts?

Matt

HI there,
I know that I had to raise the temperature in my 80 gallon to 88 and everybody was fine (cardinals, ABN, cories, and rummies). I did that for 5 days. Not sure about 92 though. Hopefully someone else has done that and can tell you.

Sophie
PS: Good luck

Crank up the air with high temps like that

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to hold off for now. Have not seen any more white poop and the affected discus is eating normally and has lost his stress bars.

I'm going to watch him pretty closely for a couple days, but I am hoping he is fighting it off himself.

Thanks,

Matt

I have a 45 gallon with a school of nineteen cardinal, 4 discus, 2 clown loach, and an albino bushynose. My tank has been up to 93 degrees a few times for a couple days with no problems. I've had the cardinal for 3 months now without any deaths.
