Just purchased a gorgeous leopard snakeskin, very good deal on the fish, I noticed the fish had a little chunk out of it's tail, but I couldn't pass it up. How long can I expect it to regenerate, and what can I do to promote healthy growth. The fish is 4.5 inches, and the damage isn't TOO bad, will there be scaring once it heals? Thanks!

David

Clean water is all you need to heal the damage as long as there is no fungus on the edges. It will probably take 1 to 3 weeks to heal and in the tail there will most likely be no scar or a small scar.(barly visible) Don T.

Cool thanks. Yeah, I'll make sure to do plenty of water changes. I heard salt might help heal the wound? It just seems torn up from maybe getting beat up by other fish, but the fish is really healthy, I'll take a picture tonight and post it.

Salt is not neccisary. Fish get fins damaged in nature all the time. It will heal fine. Don T.
