Hello there!

I have a question about wilds. Mine are quite not
themselves. I think I have a symphysodon acquifasciata
axelrodi from Rio Madiera, or else it is an Alenquer.
I also have a couple of Heckels, symphysodon discus
from Rio Negro. The SAA is very territorial, and solo.
The other two SD's are more timid. With wilds is it
best to get 3 or 4 of the same kind, for less hostility?
Since they are from different rivers, are there
behaviors that different also. I also have a domestic
blue. He gets chased around also.

Hi,
Opinions will vary on which wild/domestic strains should be kept together and which shouldn't but If you have any (strains) 4 discus in a tank( thats what it sounds like) you can run into the exact same behavior...Its a typical discus response as they set up a hierarchy. Someone is going to be top dog in a small group.... The more discus you keep in the tank the less likelihood there is that one will be one thats overly aggressive or overly submission...still those roles will be there....and this is regardless of what strain , wild or domestic you are dealing with,IME. Many have reported that heckels are more shy and timid in their nature.... I haven't seen that here.
