Hello all!

I'm new to discus. Just got my first fish batch back in mid-March from Dan at GCD. And everything has been great. I'm not sure exactly what is going on in the tank but there is quite a bit of activity which has started the last few days, shaking fins, rubbing together, coloration like I've never seen displayed in some of the fish. Several have grown quite large (there are eight in a 56 gallon). Other don't get much food and have kind of stunted out. Are these types of displays typical as fish mature? Are they attempting to pair up? They also are eating like crazy, more than usual even the more picky eaters. Very exciting I think.

Hi Ed

As the fish mature, yes these signs will emurge.

Discus like to interact with one another on any level.

The signs you have stated are of pair searching, & I wouldn't be suprized if you already have a pair.

All the best, with them! :D

Regards Armandi ;)

Hi Ed,

Seems like your discus are attaining the age of dominance. Not realy sure if its a sign of pairing as they seem to be too young to do so. Could you let us know the size of the discus you are keeping?

Surya
