Here are a couple that I have followed. Unfortunately, I am not a member. Too busy with college. The Iowa Aquaria association also has a page that lists other area clubs and organizations.

Pets playhouse is the only decent store for fish anymore. But I drive to Coralville to see Ed at Coralville Bay to get 90% of my things. He's the only store in Iowa to carry discus from Hans. I like the guy enough that I have started to volunteer my time to help them get caught up on things that need to be done around the store. Lol

I'm in Northern IA. Are there any breeders in the state with good stock?

I don't know of any breeders in Iowa. Within the next year I would like to try to get a proven pair and try it out. I'll keep everyone posted when i do this.

That would be cool, let me know if you have any luck! I'm having a hard time finding Discus where I live, would it be worth driving to visit the pet store you previously mentioned? Does he have a good variety in stock?

He currently only has two PB's there. I'm stoping in on sunday to pick up some live black worms and i can ask him if he's planning on getting another order in anytime soon. Where in iowa do you live? If you don't mind me asking. Fiance is from PDC so we are in the NE part quite often might be able to set up a pick up and drop off sometime if need be lol

Ok so here's my update. Talked to the fiancé tonight and I get to buy a few more tanks and buy a proven pair from Hans!!!!!! So when I get some fry I'll post pics and then first come first serve! I'm so excited for this adventure!

Hey all! Throwing this out again. We had a good turn out at our last meeting held in Janesville but would like to see a better group as we become more organized. This will happen as more people join in the happening. We have people from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. The potential is here to have a great group that sets the foundation to discus keeping and to teach that foundation and love for discus keeping to others in our area. Yes same club. Just watch out for meeting times. Bad thing for you is they are usually held up in Wisconsin.
