What's the best way to ship discus? I heard that 1/3 water 2/3 co2. I am wondering how long can they be kept like that? will they survive a 24 hr trip?

Hi,
Yes 1/3 water 2/3 oxygen some methylene blue just a drop or 2 to prevent amonia burn, depending on the size of the fish they should at least be double bagged. We ship them in a styrofoam box with heat packs one on the bottom and one on the top lid. We pack bubble wrap and shippin peanuts around them so they dont move tape up the box, then they go into a corrugated box and taped and labeled. Whala shipping. We ship overnight only.
Hope this answers your question. Maybe more than you wanted to know? (smile). Let me know if you have more questions?

How long can you keep the fish in the bag for? Will they last 24 to 30 hr?

It all depends on a lot more facts.

Keep them off food 24-48 hours.

How many do you put in a bag????

Do you drive them yourself????

Do you ship them with who ever???

We can pack them in a way you can keep them in the bags up to 60-70 hours (tested with Discus, just standing in the fish house, not on a bumpy truck etc.)
But that is bigger bag, more water, more Oxy, lesser fish in a bag, we've for every need a solution

Btw we use bag buddies from Jungle for packing.
