A friend today asked me why I hadn't told her when we had talked, so, since I consider all of you friends I thought I should post this. As I told my other friend, this hasn't really hit me full yet and was something I was keeping in the back of my mind for the time being, but...

My mother passed away last Wednesday morning :(

We knew she wasn't doing well, and had just put her Hospice care. My wife, sister, and I were leaving Wednesday morning to go see here (she was living in a nursing home in St. Louis near my other sister), but the call came about 3 hours before we were scheduled to leave. We did go and see her though, and she looked so happy and peacefull it made us think she was happy to be back together with Dad again.

She had struggled with Alzhiemers (spelling) for the past 3 or 4 year but had remained the sweet loving woman she had always been throughout her life.

Jim, I am VERY sorry for your loss. With Alzheimer's its ongoing grief and loss for years and then the big bang...I took care of my great aunt for 6 years with it and I understand the journey. VERY difficult. My thougths and prayers are with you. Thanks for sharing this sadness with us. Any support that I could give you in this rough time I would be most glad to do.
Best regards

Sorry for your loss Jim but she is at peace now as you should be as well...

Alzheimer's is a very ugly disease for the individual that has it and for the family that helplessly watches.

Thoughts and prayers are with you...

Sorry to hear it, I can certainly relate. It's been 6 weeks since my Mom died from Alzheimer's. I can say truthfully that it gets better with time. I now think of the good memories instead of visualizing her on her death bed. I was told that would happen and it does. I smile now when I think of her and you will as well.
Blessings,
Sue
