I have a question about a possible substitute for this product .... I live in an area that the PH is high 7.8 so I do ro-di mixed with tap water... then I adjust the PH to 6.5 with this product...

A person that I know uses a dry PH lowering product bought at a hardware store that is meant for swimming pools and hot tubs... it is a fraction of the price of the API product...

Is this safe?

I have a chemist friend that says he would never put pool chemicals in my tanks. Secondly, what is wrong with 7.8ph? Is your water hard also?

Yes too much impurities, even if its the correct chemical.
