I have three discus in my 45g tank. And two problems. One of the females that has laid eggs for 5wks in a row (only got one batch to wigglers) is so much bigger then the others. The male look thin. He doesn't seem to eat as much as he did. The water is great O,O,O.4-+ Ph 6.5 weekly 50% water change (more times if needed).
I had thought to get rid of the second female for she is always pushed behind a rock in the corner. Really is only out when they are without a nest. They poke at her all the time. I even had to put a second worm cone so she could eat. These discus were living in a 10g before I rescued them at 4 months old. They are now 4 and 5" or more and 1yr old. They are not the greatest body wise for being in the tiny tank for so long.
Do males that have mated and watched nest loose weight? Should I keep or trade off the second female. I just see her as picked on, but not hurt.
She hides while they swim all over the tank.
They eat california black worms that I raise and sinking shrimp and algae pellets.
