Hello All,I have an established 60G with my current discus stock.* I setup a new 150G home which has been running and cycling (with rummynoses) for about 4 months now.* I am ready to transition my discus to the 150G, but im having a PH issue.* The established discus tank always maintains a PH of about 6.0 (Naturally- no chems). Even when doing water changes, (my local water has a PH out of the tap of about 7.3- 7.5), raises a bit for a few hours and then goes right back down to 6.0.* (no problem for my discus, they thrive in it)My problem now becomes the 150G that maintains the PH at 7.2 all the time.* I concern if I will stress the discus by putting them in the higher PH.* However, until i bring up the stock in the 150 I dont foresee the PH decreasing.Ay ideas??, Suggestions??

Let the PH stay at 7.2 in the big tank, this will not hurt your discus at all. It is always safer for a discus to go into a higher PH than a lower PH.

Hi Alex,

I was having the same problem with my 125g. My problem stemmed from refilling the tank after a WC with water straight out of the tap. Like yours, the pH would rise to around 7.2 and then dive down to 6.0. Once I started using aged water to complete the WC the problem went away. Now my pH levels stay around 7.4. Good Luck.

Well...update...I put all the Discus in the 150G...and they all seem to be doing fine. I was concerned with one that jumped out of the 60G as I was trying to net him out. Took a nasty fall, but even he seems adjusted and happy in his new home. They are all a little shy, but Im expecting that for a few days. Ill keep everyone posted.
