Has anyone tried infrared heating? I know that it is a very efficient form of heating, usually used for large spaces such as warehouses. From what I understand (simply put), the heater heats the object rather than the air. Seems like it might be a money saver for larger setups.

Never tried it, from the reading in the link I'm not sure how practical it would be for heating aquariums but who knows.

From the aritlcle, "Their peak wavelength is well below the absorption spectrum for water". It might heat up the fish themselves, though.
