What should be the ideal height of a discus tank? Specially in case of a tank that is 5 feet in length and 2 feet in width. Should the height be kept 2 feet or 2.5 feet?
FYI, the iron stand on which the tank will be kept is 2 feet in height. And i am personally a young man of 6 feet height.

Considering the fact that cost and weight is not an issue.
What height will make the discus more comfortable and also cleaning is an issue to be considered.

Kindly give your valuable opinion.

:D Hi Sandipan, I'm goin' thru the same thoughts for new tanks...but I'm both old & only 5'5"....my 125g is ok at 24" deep, but have a 110 that is 30"deep & very tough to clean/get soaked....being 6', you could easily go for the 30" ht/depth...I'll be ordering tanks at 54"x24x20" high, to fit my new shelving....it all comes down to cleaning I think, the discus will do fine in either...the large footprint(LxW) is good, but the depth (height) is more difficult to reach down to the bottom when it's 30"....I"d rather the 20 or 24" depth for easier cleaning, a problem you won't have with your long arms & height, tho even for you, 24" might be better & easier....lol...just a personal issue....be interesting to hear from others 'bout this....

Wow.. 30" in height is a tall tank.. Is it a 110 gl. ?? I have a 65 gl. and two 90 gl. I like their dept of 25" over a 75 gl. which is shorter.. As Dr. Korbi says, its personal preference. Enjoy your discus.. David T

18" is more than enough in a large discus tank.

If you are growing them then I like 21" but as Mat said 18" is enough and simpler. A 5' x 2' x2' 150g display tank is rather impressive:D

Thank you all...
Thank you Dottie....

As suggested i will go for a 5feet*2feet*2feet, 150gallon tank. I think anything more in height cleaning will be an issue. Dr Korbi thanks for your valuable suggestions.

I have a 155 gallon fish tank that is 30 inches deep. I love the tank, but hate cleaning it. The biggest problem is cleaning the back of the tank. (Algae is a problem in my tank) I usually have to stand on a step stool and stick my head in the tank, after draining water out, to clean it really good. Other than that problem, I really enjoy the tank.
