Could I put 8 juvi discus in a 50 gallon tank? Sizes ranging from 3.5-4.5 inches. Planning also to put some rasboras and other tetras?

If you're willing to keep up with the water quality then yes, if not 6 might be a better number especially if the size of fishes are already at 3.5-4.5". JMHO.

Your Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels will tell you whether your current WC frequency & percentage are adequate for your group of fish. Type of filtration, amt. of food we feed daily, number of fish and at what size, etc... require different WC frequency and %.

Are you planning to put these fish in a larger tank anytime soon?

I dont think you would want to keep 8 discus in a 50 gal. Most discus newbs dont realize how big discus fish get..I would say 6 max with alot of water changes.

Yes Im planning to move them in a big tank as soon as they grow. But its going to be next year. I don't think discus could grow that fast right? Im putting them in a 72 or 90 gallon.

I also have 2 filter system on my setup rightnow 1 aquaclear and a penguin hang on back filter. Would the current of the overflow affect the discus?

Your filters shoul be fine. I have an emperor 400 and emperor280 on 80 gal. Fish don't mind the current.:D

It depends on what time next year you plan to move them. With good food and clean water( genetics effects size also) they could easily be 5" plus in 6 to 8 months. Don T.

THanks, I'll see once they grow fast then I'll probably goin to move them to a bigger tank.

thus discus always hide or is just mine? I mean once I turn on the lights and it takes time for them to roam around the tank. Feeding time no problem but Im just wondering are this fish just wants to stay and hide?
