when you get ready to buy just make sure you buy them in groups of 6 or more ....they dont do as well in lower numbers . as far as the most expensive discus go..its the ones that die , the price you pay for a fish does not always mean your getting the Best fish ... find a good breeder and ask him what he has avail and size ...sorry i couldnt be of much more help , just adding my .02 cents

You should focus on where you can get quality discus from a reputable seller. Most expensive doesn't mean much if they are dead. Being new to discus, get into the hobby slowly.

Anything albino are usually more expensive.

Start out with easier discus to keep and after a year or two then move up to the strains that you really want. By then you will have a better understanding on how to take care of discus and keep them healthy.
