Best to pot amazons with?

Hi, I bought two amazon sword plants and they came in plastic pots. These are very large groupings of 24" high with many plants in the bunch. I'd like to repot in clay post to keep them in one spot plus get rid of the flocking thats on the top layer of the current pot. What is good and not messy to repot with?

I used half Eco Complete and half regular gravel to pot some amozons into clay pots. They grew into monsters. I never had to add fertilizer to the pots or the water.

I use 100% FloraBase in my potted plants.
