Hey everyone, I have a question. I recently purchased a rubbermaid 44gl trash barrel to age my water. I used straight tap water and placed a heater and a large airstone inside. I let the water age for 48hrs before my W/C. I Also used Discus buffer to lower the PH a little. Yesterday during my W/C I noticed the water in the barrel was kinda cloudy. As the water level dropped in the barrel I noticed some white residue on the sides.
The water in the tank I was filling was a little cloudy so I put in some water clarifier. That seemed to make the tank even worse! All night it was cloudy and even today it's still not clear. My fish seem fine, but I don't know why this happened or what caused it. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong? Thanks Paul

Sounds like the minerals in your water are coming out of solution.
How hard is your water?

The combo of what William just stated and the buffer addition has got chemistry in overdrive...

Just age the water and don't add any buffer one way or another

My water is pretty hard and PH straight from tap is around 7.9. I'll try it without the chemicals on Sunday. Thanks
