Emperor vs. Aqua Tech

For years I've used the Emperor 400 on all of my tanks. The last year I've noticed the filters that you have to replace are not lasting more than about three weeks before they start to turn very mushy. Anyone know what type of sponge filter would work in the Emerpor 400 so that I don't have to be constantly replacing the filters?

I'm also considering switching to Aqua Tech filters and was wondering how those of you that use them like them.

So which one is better Emperor or Aqua Tech?
