So I've got my discus in a 110 and I need to head to the south coast today for the holidays and likely won't return until the 27th or 28th...

These are the things I've been doing up to now, would anyone suggest anything else?

- Heavy Feeding and daily 30-40% water changes in the week prior to today.
- Going to do one last big water change today right before I leave (50-60%)
- Did NOT plan on feeding today in order to minimize "new poop" once I leave.

It is a planted tank, and I was wondering whether I should kill my lights for the duration of my leave. I don't want plants to die/decay while I'm gone, but I know my fish tend to be a bit more restful if I leave the lights dim. Maybe restrict lighting to 6 hours a day? (currently on 12.)

Any additional thoughts?

Regards,
Lee

Will you be gone for 4 days? Do you have a timer for the lights or an auto feeder?

I don't think that will be a big problem. 6 hours of light can prevent your plants from withering I think.

I wouln't worry about feeding your Discus for the 4 days and i would leave the lights on a timer the same as usual. Unless the room is pitch black, the Discus will be as active as they are at any other time.
