Hey Jim, beautiful pair.

Can't wait to see how the babies turn out!

If you don't mind me asking, what PH do you have them in? How big is the Heckel? Also, what do you feed the heckel primarily.

Thanks in advance

Eddie,

The Ph vary abit between 5.5 to 6.8, it depend on my water change. The heckel is about 6.5", i got him when i was in duisburg last october. I am currently feeding him with tetra prima as i have just finished the sera granules, and the some prawn paste when i have the time.

The only problem is, i am not good at raising frys...........

Thanks Jim,

You must be doing something right, getting the Heckel to pair up and raise some fry. Thats pretty top-notch in my book. :)

Thanks for the great information

I know, it will be strange to see. I guess leopards being related to RSGs and with a heckel influence. I wonder which is more dominant. That should be an interesting cross.

Hi Eddie,

they have grown a little bit bigger and started to show the first and the last bar. I moved them last week, but i have been losing one each day for the past five day........

The good news is the parent have spawn again and the egg should hatch tomorrow morning......

cheers

Sorry to hear about you losing some Jim. I'm really interested in how they turn out in color and pattern. I'm very glad to hear they are up for more.

Best of luck

most of the fry in the second spawn got suck in to the filter..... but i'm on the third spawn now, I have lost a few for the past week... but the other seems to be ok.

the fry from the first spawn are about 1" to 1.5" but there are a few with wonky bar. still waiting for the fifth bar.............................

Very interested in how they look Jim. Seeing which traits are more dominant. Since you only have a small number it will be hard to tell which is the dominant gene. I assume the heckel but that is just an un-educated guess.

Good luck with this spawn

Why not put a sponge over the filter,to reduce casualties?
