I am looking to upgrade my fluorescent light , standard aquarium light , 7000K
I am interested in a light that will bring out the colors of my discus which are in a planted tank and it must also be safe

not that i know the answer, but it might depend on the type (colour) of discus you have, so you might want to post that too.

If you look in the planted tank section, you'll find tons of pictures and a detailed description of tanks and lights used. I would bet you can get some great information from another persons set-up. One that would suit you perfectly.
