I just got a e-mail and also saw today in another site that Lee needs our prayers. He had a stroke and had surgery last friday for a brain tumor. He is now getting chemo treatments. Take a minute and say a little prayer for him As I have dealt with lee and has been a great man to deal with. If I find or hear anymore info I will pass it on. GOD BLESS Gary

I just got updated on Lee. The news coming out doesnt sound good. They say there is nothing they can do and have said he has 2 to 3 months max. The fish club he belongs to tore down his hatchery yesterday and sold alot of his bigger tanks and put the rest in storage. They will be having some auction for his remaing fish to raise some money for lee. It seems that Lee just started a new job and has no health insurance. Every one say a little pray for lee as he battles this. I will keep you posted if I hear anything else. Gary

Hi Guys, sorry I have not been on and kept y'all informed. I am Ken Davis, Lee is one of my best friends. He had a grand mall sesure on new years eve, since he did not work until Monday no one missed him, some co workers went to his house Tuesday evening, found his lights all on and the mail pilled up and called the police. They found him on his living room floor in a comma. He had been there 5-6 days, Had he not been a big guy he would not have survived that long, at that time they thought he had a stroke. I went to see him that Thursday after he had recover somewhat and got his faculties back, he knew who people were, but was weak and worried, they did an MRI and found a mass on his brain, he had surgery Friday. It was not good, the tumor was the size of a softball and has tendrels down into his brain, they could not get it all. Amazingly in just a few days he recovered from this and is himself again, so when given the options of going through chemo and radiation and being sick for the rest of his life from the treaments that had a very small chance of doing any good or leaving it alone and having a few months with his family and friends he choose the latter. Yesterday me and 10 other members of the fish club went over and tore down his fishroom, Most of the big tanks were bought by members of the club and Kevin bought all his discus, I have several hundred show guppies, his group of fancy swordtails and a bunch of African cichlids and the rest of his tanks and equipment out in my hatchery. We will be running benifit auctions on Aquabid next week to raise money to help pay his medical bills. He has no insurance. Anyone in Georgia can contact me at fishfarm@mindspring.com if you would like to get some of his fish or tanks.
Lee's a great guy, he's being tough, but little hope is left for a recovery. I am sending his sisters contact information to Hans. He's only 54. Ken

I called Lee's sister Cindy and left a message on the answer machine, no reply yet.

I don't know what to do.

Joanne & I will send a card (least thing we can do) to tell Lee we are thinking of him.
I will send the card to Cindy's addy (I have that) but I don't want to post it here, you never know who reads it and I don't want to give Cindy more problems as she already has at the moment.

For now, the only thing I can say or offer is, if you want to send a card, letter or what ever. Send it to me:

Discus Hans
4413 Necker Avenue
Baltimore, MD 21236

Write on the back "For Lee" (so we don't open it) and I will take care that all goes as fast as possible to Cindy.

If any one has a better idea, please tell,

Hans

Latest update, Lee had had a turn for the worse. I visted him Sunday and he barely responded to his sister, he only spoke 3 words, I'm not even sure he knew I was there. Cindy called me yesterday and said he had completly stopped talking and slept most of the time and had stopped eating. He's in a Hospice so they won't do I.V. nutrition. I'm afraid it won't be long now. She told him it was O.K. to go, God had water changes for him to do. It's been rough on the family. We are running benifit auctions for his fish on Aquabid to help pay his medical bills, They end this Sunday. http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?disp&viewseller&Fishfarmusa

Lee passed away last night at 9 pm, he went peacefully. He was only 54 years old, It only took 30 days from onset. Live life to it's fullest guys, you never know when. Right before he had surgery we were talking about his fish, I was assuring him they were being well taken care of. He wondered outloud why "he did all this" i.e having all the fish he had, I told him that was just who he was. He seemed satisfied with that. I feel previllege to have know him the way I did, we went to a lot of fish shows together. He was a great guy and will be missed, next week when I pack up his fish to be shipped off to all the people who have geneously bid on the auctions to help pay his medical bills I will think about him. Thank you all. Ken

I really will miss Lee, three years ago I visited with him and we enjoyed a long conversation for a couple of hours , he showed me his Stendker discus , his cichlids , his Angel fish (He had a beatiful Pearl scale male ) and of course his guppies. We talked about life , he seem to lived alone in a big house with his fish in the basement . He just had a set of tanks hooked up in a stand for water sharing and distribution and was very proud of it getting done with a friend's help.
I just saw him at the ACA in Atlanta and he was in good spirits , told me how good the guppy sales were for him at the hotel , I asked him of he was going to the banquet and he said no, I offered him my ticket and he kept saying , are you sure you dont want it ??...are you sure ??? and I said No Lee , I would like for you to use it ..he was very enthusiastic about going ....
That was the last time I spoke to him.
He really has made an imprint in my life somehow, He was a real character ! I feel good about having met him ,
