View Full Version : Question about eggs?

I have a pair that lays eggs about every other week. I know that the male is fertile because he has had wigglers on the last spawn. There was only 8 wigglers that time, but it's a start. This spawn took along time for the eggs to turn white. After 48 hours about half of the eggs were white. I thought there was still hope with the rest, until they all turned white. The only problem is that they all turned white after 60+ hours. I was wondering is this a problem with my water or is this just a normal thing. I use a mixture of 75% RO and 25% tap in the tank. I have had many spawns with different pairs, but no real success with babies.

Tds: 55
PH: 6.8
Temp: 83

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Patrick

Sounds to me like a young inexperienced male. The water seems fine.

Hello Patrick,
This will surely help with the fertility rate....
When they are about to spawn, make sure to turn down the filter to almost off, that will make the water very still...
The male sperms do not get away/diluted in the current, therefore will stays concentrated with the eggs.Good luck.
