I thought I'd post a summary in case other people come across this same situation, maybe this will help.

The original post is here:

The issue was that about 36 hours after removing the juveniles from a pair of Discus, they showed signs of what looks like pH shock - turn dark, sit at the bottom of the tank either upright to up to a 45 degree angle, rapid shallow breathing, pectorals fluttering. But, they also look like they have a white sheen to them. If you take a closer look, you can see that their scales are slightly raised on the back edges which gives them an appearance of being white.
Here's an example picture.

The bafflling thing about this is that the problem started about 36 hours after removing the juveniles and after a water change.

Another symptom is that if you turn off the lights, the Discus will begin swimming and acting normally. Once the flourescent light goes back on, back down to the bottom they go.

The remedy is mostly just time. I kept the light off for the next 4 days so they would eat and behave normally. I kept the water changing to a minimum - maybe 10 gallons of the 50 gallons every couple days. I also added StressCoat and that might have helped some, but mostly it was probably just time.

After about 4 days, you'll notice the white sheen will go away and looking at the scales, they will once again be smooth along the body.

Hope this helps.
