This is still an early pair, but the male has not been helping with spawning. I walk in and see the female making passes and laying eggs, yet the male just sits there and watches. When she is done he comes in behind her and eats the eggs. What should I do? Any help would be great.

Nothing you can do..Just be patient...Also make sure your water parameters are good.

If you have another male you might want to change him with another.

I have another Question. What color do the eggs turned when they are fertalized?

They start to develop a small black dot in the middle after about 24-36 hours. This depends on the temp in your tank. If warmer it will happen sooner. They should also be a orange/yellow color. Once you see white eggs they are not fertilized.

Do the eggs come out white or do they come out yellow from the female? Do they turn white if the male han't fertalized them, or do they only turn yellow when the male fertalizes the eggs?

They come out yellow/orange...then turn white if not fertilized

Be patient, I have two pairs doing the same right now. Males mature slower than females, kind of like us......:)

I agreed with you, Let female laid eggs up to 10 time or so the male will run the eggs.

Or break up the pair, Let the female to find another male. or force pair up. Your choice.

Good luck
