hey guys, I have two pairs of discus that just formed last week. The famale from both pair lay eggs two days ago for the first time. The problem was that the male are not doing his part, what do you think of it? Why? What should I do with them?

It can take weeks or it can take months...All you can do is keep the water parms in check and be patient. How old are they and what strain?

New pairs need time to get things right. It has been said that males mature slower, so that explains their lacking.

You just have to be patient. I had a pair that took about 3 months before their weekly efforts at spawning finally took hold. It's just a waiting game. As mentioned above, keep your water perameters in check and they'll produce fry eventually.

Best wishes!

My spotted fish took 16 months until the male started to do his part. I would expect them to start to produce for you during this spring/summer. Good luck.
