Hi all.
Noticed a lump on my 15 month old gold crystal's top fin yesterday. Actually, matched lumps both side of the fin. Today the lumps have (I presume) joined and actually split the fin though the end lump doesn't appear to have increased in size. It's not Ich and I am a bit lost for ideas on what it might be.
Tank details: temp 30C, nitrites zero, nitrates 18ish, ammonia .1, ph round 6.2. Last time I checked GH (3 weeks ago?) it was round 140. 4 healthy discus (normally); 2 pairs, both currently breeding enthusiastically but fruitlessly in a community tank. Tank is fairly heavily planted with a 3" gravel substrate and we do a 30% water change every 5 days.
We could probably lower the ammonia to 0 if we could catch a large SAE that no longer eats algae. Damned fish is a nuisance.
