"The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere.

We have 700+ videos on YouTube covering everything from basic arithmetic and algebra to differential equations, physics, and finance which have been recorded by Salman Khan."

If you need to brush up on mathematics or have kids struggling with math, then watch some of Khan's instructional videos. It's sites like this that make the internet great.

Thanks for the great link. My son gets an A in Math and we still think he's paying off the teacher with his lunch money but somehow he does it.
This will help both my kids in the future.

Here's an article on the Khan Academy.

He's adding more and more videos every day. He's also doing many different subjects besides math. It's a great site for learning.

Another good site is...

http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/

Free online courses from M.I.T. Lecture notes, slide shows and video lectures. Great stuff if you know somebody in college taking similar courses or if you just want to learn something new.

If you like MIT, Terps, you will certainly want to check out the video lectures by Noam Chomsky, professor emeritus at MIT.

Great website Terps. I am planning on directing some of my students there. Thanks.

Afriad I'll have to pass on any lectures about the merits of communism though.:)

Noam Chomsky is not a communist, and does not promote communism. I'm sorry to see in this day and age that people still brand anyone who is critical of private capitalism as a communist.

I realize that you are an intelligent person and likewise know that you have read previous (very often conservative) posts by Terps. I therefore assumed that you were making a humorous jab at Terps by recommending Chomsky as a lecturer that he would enjoy. In the same vein of humor I was attempting to make another light hearted jab at socialist notions with my labeling of Chomsky as a communist. I did not intend to offend you, Chomsky, or anyone else who may advocate socialism, communism, anti-capitalist, or any other political/economic viewpoint.

You seldom hear him advocate a replacement to an economic system that has caused devestation around the world. I highly recommend Chomsky for an outstanding analysis of current events. We seldom get the 'whats' in mainstream media; we almost never get the 'whys'.

Socialism has failed wherever it's been tried. Only stupid people and liberals working in universities believe in the concept.

Jerry Pournelle has an excellent post on the subject.

Just look at how the socialistic governments are failing in Europe. Obama and the democrats are doing the same here in the USA. They are ruining the country.

Oh, and Martha's hero in Venzuela is doing such a fine job.

LOL The only country that came close to a socialist government is the Soviet Union, and that was overthrown by the private capitalists, foreign and domestic, and the communists before it even got started. There are no socialist governments in Europe. Capitalists do not have quite the free hand in Europe that they have in the US, and European countries tend to spend more of their tax base on health care, education, etc, but that does not make them socialist. Nice of you to carefully not catagorize me with stupid people. :D
