My Discus are starting to get really nasty with each other. It has gotten to the point where there are shredded fins. The runt is starting to look pretty beat up.

I think it is two Discus causing so much trouble. One of them (Ghost discus) has no torn fins at all, but the other guy causing trouble seems to be a tad torn up too (Checkerboard.) They also seem to go after different guys (the Ghost mainly chases the runt, and the Checkerboard mainly chases the smaller checkerboard) my big blue guy is always left alone, and the leopard snakeskin is mainly left alone although I see a small tear in his fin.

What should I do??

Thanks,

DL

Hey our fish should get together, we have some nasties. Mine though are not tearing fins thank goodness, the two pigeonbloods will lock lips but no harm is done and my poor little runt just gets chased but never harmed.

Tonight it finally ate some food thank goodness.

Would it not be so nice if they would all get along....:D

LOL Debbie. Why did we get stuck with the meanies? :P

More tanks aren't feasible (but more fish are :) .) I think I am going to divide the two nasty fish or at least one of them and see what happens.

No more tanks for me, one is enough. They all get along so well providing there is no food being fed, I am lucky they don't tear fins and I am very surprised that my Cobalt Blue has not kicked the you know what out of the new ones as he is twice the size of them, he is my "mediator" and keeps everyone at their best.......;)

First how many fish and how big is the tank? If you have at least 6 fish then my suggestion would be to feed good feed and change lots of water........

Tank is 46 gal bowfront with 5 fish.

I just removed the little one to a seperate tank, will see how this goes for a while. Maybe I can bulk him up so he can go back in and kick some butt....;)

i hear ya, my checkerboard Pigeon is a mean lil f***er too lol. I wonder if it has to do with it being the brightest fish in the tank?

Tank is 90 gallons, 6 fish. I do 4 feedings a day upping to 5 and a 30-40% water change a day, going to try and up that to a 50%.

I think I am going to get a divider this weekend. Would you guys divide the runts or the aggressors?
