Hey Jim, really depends on the particular strain. Obviously BDs can have color at a young age.

Any strain in particular?

The female is a snowfire- red checker board pigeon crossed with a snow white
The male is an irridescent red turquoise - same red checkerboard pigeon with a tony tan select lss
I have some with 9stripes, 1 stripe over the eye, peppered, not peppered, black eyes, red eyes
lots of different types from that one batch

The color of all your fish will develop and change as the fish get older, you should see some color developing at a young age but not anywhere near what they will look like as they become adults.
