I managed to obtain a water barrel which was not previously contaminated with chemicals etc which i'd like to use to age water. This barrel was cut in half and I therefore have no means to close it. Can it still be used or should I find another barrel which I can close?

They do not have to be closed if they are indoors but you should have a cover on it. Don T.

I see, thanks. Any suggestions as to what I can use to cover it?

Any cheap plastic. plexiglass is kind of expensive but you may be able to find some plastic shelving, garbage can lid or something of a suitable size. I would not use wood. It will soak up water. Don t.
