My new 90 gallon arrived today! I'm very excited. I would post pictures but for now it's just an empty tank, i'm sure everyone knows what a 90 gallon looks like! Anyway, I have some big plans for the tank, it will be fully planted with a very large school of rummies and probably some espei rasboras. I will try to keep updates on the tanks progress as it comes along, if I find that people are interested. I will hopefully be making an order with Kenny too once i'm ready.

Haha, I don't exactly know of real life yet, as i'm just a college student. But i'll tell you, it has taken all of my will power to put off putting this tank up before now. It actually had been sitting at the store for a week, but I have had a terribly busy week of tests. I'm finally just about ready to get to work on it. Thanks for the kind words.

Oooh, I'm so jealous. My "babies" are growing so fast that I need to get a bigger tank sooner than I expected.

Good luck and have fun. I can't wait to see your progress and your discus.

A couple of pictures of the empty tank. It's sitting in the hallway until I make enough room to move it to its perminent spot, so the angles are bad. Have to do some rearranging first. Will update as I work on it.

Thanks Francis,

It will have a sump and two HOB's for now. A couple friends of mine will be coming over on monday to help me with the plumbing. Not exactly sure yet what the filtration will be in the sump.

Sorry, I don't have any updates yet. Give me another 3 days! I'll have it set up and will begin planting it. The plumbing has been a longer process than I had thought. I have a pretty cool piece of driftwood that I will be adding now though so i'm excited to see what I can do with the tank. Should have some nice planted pieces of wood and a good amount of stem plants. Check back soon, thanks for the interest.

Took me a while, but heres an update on the tank. Still waiting to put discus in it, but its planted and has some fish. Let me know what you think. I'll update more as the plants fills in. Should look nice once it grows out a bit and I can get in and do some trimming. Thanks.

Looking good there. I see your rummys, cute little discus & some other fish, but couldn't see the espei rasboras. Are they in there? I have some in QT at the moment, just waiting until they are too big to fit in adult discus sized mouths before I add them to the planted tank.

What substrate are you using? Is there a planted tank type one underneath the gravel?

Keep up the updates.

Thanks Robyn,
I think I only have two espeis in there right now, you can see one of them i believe in the far left of picture three. I'm planning on adding another five cardinals, another 10 espeis, and another 25 rummies still. The cute little discus you are refering to are my two little stunted discus that I bought a while back. They were cleary stunted, but selling for next to nothing, so I figured I would give them a nice home. They are liking their new big home, but are going to have to be evicted soon to make room for some adults. I'll have to set them up with their own tank. As far as substrate, I am using 50 pounds of flourite red under some bulk gravel. I believe the bulk gravel sold under the name "razor red". Thanks for looking! I'll keep you updated.

I know how you feel Eddie, I get on simplydiscus during classes on my ipod, but the pictures wont show up. Then I have to go home and look for all of the pictures I missed! Thanks for the kind words. Can't wait to fill this thing with some happy adult discus! I'll probably be giving Kenny a call very soon!

Just a little word of advice, ditch the HOB's. Plants tend to not do too well with them because of the high CO2 loss. Sumps can also be bad for this depending on how it is set up, but I wouldn't be concerned with it. Try getting some internal filters instead or if you can fit a canister underneath too go with that. Just a little suggestion to help your plants grow well ;)

It is a very beautiful tank, I can't wait to see it with the discus in :D
