Pearl diamond caught my interest recently, since it is said to be genetically closest to the original golden discus mutated from brown discus, which seems almost extincted nowadays. Also, the RGD is said to be created based on pearl diamond. However, all pearl diamonds I've seen by far are either albino ones or juvs. Can anybody post a picture of an adult pearl diamond if possible?

Thanks!:D

Hello Xiaofei, I have 2 very young PDs and they are very different. One looks like a pigeon and the other look like a Rose Red but orange. I'll try to get some good pictures of them tonight. I am very partial to the orange looking rose red one, my favorite. I'd love to see some adults.

Thanks a lot Eddie! I still remember how they were like when you received them from Forrest. They are really special fish. Can't wait to see how they are looking like right now! :)

Thanks Walter for the link! Jeff's award-winning Albino pearl diamond definitely look gorgeous, but they are albinos...do you know if there's any picture for non-albino adult pearl diamonds? Thanks!

Definitely, I'm anxious to see the non-albino strains.

Xiaofei,

They are not growing like my others so you may not see too much difference in size. The one that looks like a pigeon has white striations developing and the other is a deeper brown, with no striations. I will post pics later though so you can see.

Thanks for so many pictures Eddie :). They are very unique, pigeon-like white striations and complete blood red eyes, but totally no peppering, and with stress bars, wow~~Now I see why people say it's a great tool for improving strains. it's natural that golden-based fish show slow growth (my RGD is far behind other fish now:(), but with your seafood power mix, i'm sure there'll be a huge difference after a few months. :D

Xiaofei, I ran into the same problem sometime ago got very interested on PD but I had no clue of how adults looks and could not find pics except for albinos.
I do remember what I think was a pair posted by, if my memory is working correctly, Jeffry Yang. If I remember correctly the fish looked like a RGD but cream color instead. Not really "impressive", but their shape was awesome and they had this "royalty" look to them

Maybe I was confused:confused: I think this is the pair but it says Albino:o

I think the pearl diamond discus is the same as the yellow white discus....only given the name by the breeders.

Cheers

You can see Jeffery Yang's adult Albino Pearl Diamonds here but if you are not a registered user you will need to do so to see them. They are very nice.

We're looking for non albino Pearl Diamonds, I made the mistake thinking I had seen them but they were albinos.

If only Forrest or Jeffrey could show us one or two.;)

I have not seen a non Albino Pearl Discus and I even checked my price list from a few farms that I import from and they only show the Albino strain. I have seen Pearl Whites maybe it is a cross with an Albino strain to get the APD and maybe there is no non APD

I don't think there are non albino pearl diamond. Jeffrey Yang told me the pearl diamond are throwbacks from Ung Seng Lip's breeding line of ARGD, Jeffrey gave them the name to differentiate them for marketing purposes. A non albino pearl diamond would look like a regular golden discus i think.

There are non albino pearl diamonds, Kenny had some for sale sometime ago and well Eddie has some too, the thing is who has adults or pics of adults:confused: :alien:
Our best bet is to wait for Forrest or Jeffrey to post some of theirs or contact Ung Sen Lip. OR, we can wait for Eddie's PD to grow up:D

Hey Eddie!

Hey Vera, it has been quite a while, glad to see you back! Unfortunately I lost both of my Pearl Diamonds. The better of the 2 took a jump from small slit at the top of the tank. I found it dead on the floor in the morning. The second one died from a very deadly outbreak I went through about 8-9 months ago. :( Its all good though, lessens learned and still pushing forward!

Take care,

Eddie
