my water here is hard - i dont have gh kH meter I have tds meter and ph meter . water hardness is around 200-250 ppm and pH is around 7

what water parameters are optimal for eggs hatching ?

Pozdrav
200 do 250 microsiemensa je ok, ali moraces da spustis jos malo ph/Kh (ph6,8)
ali ako hoces dobar kvalitet onda je 150 microsiemensa idealan

i had 80 ppm TDS , and ph 7 - than I added some ph lowering thing Sacheem discus buffer to lower ph and now pH is 6.6 but because I added it TDS raised from 80 ppm to 119 ppm ? can eggs be hatched in this water parameters or I need to add more RO water and have TDS under 100 ppm ?

no need to lower it more, 119 µS and ph is good and it should work

i ordered kh gh kit today. my pH is between 6.4 and 6.6 and TDS is 154 since I added Seachem discus buffer solution to lower pH - TDS raised because of that

some use straight R/O like myself, dont waste your money on the discus buffer all it does is raise the TDS. and you have to test the water all the time. Add some kh or tap if your tap is a little harder and they will do fine.

so you think when I lower pH with discus buffer , and raise TDS - eggs cannot be hatched?

My pH from tap is 7.0 . With Merlin RO I can have soft water from 30 ppm to 50 ppm. Should I just go with like 40 ppm straight RO ?

im no expert but my water is very hard and i use straight R/O and occasionally buffer it with tap water for the breeding tanks. the fish that arent breeding i use straight tap water. I keep it clean and only change the perameters slowly when they show signs of breeding. If you dont do a lot of water changes then watch the ph if you just use R/O so it doesnt drop tooo far. Im not an expert so hopefully some knowlegable sole like grahm can add their 2 cents. Ive got wigglers about every 10 days or so but ive got bad parents so they have been eating them, so ive started to experement with artificial until i can find serogate parents. good luck:angel:

the eggs will hatch in hard water they just dont fertilize in hard water. once the eggs are laid then you can use any type of water you desire to a point, just keep it clean and constant

yes i ment in which water parameters you get fertilization rate?

meanwhile new spaning has occured . so now we will see is water good or not .
