i think you shud raise those juvies with lots of varied nutritious food,a LOT of w/c in a bare bottom tank. you can convert it to a planted tank after they,re all grown up.
if you wanna grow them in a planted tank, you better get ready for extreme maintenaince sessions.

P.S:dont mind the bad english...still learnin it:D

You're going to get the same thing here. Some people do 100% twice a day. Some 50% a day. Some less. Can you tell us what your current situation is? I saw that you had 4 Discus, how large are they and what size tank are they in? Do you have a test kit to test your water parameters? If so please provide that info as well.

Your discus are juveniles so they need to be fed frequently for optimal growth. I feed mine 8-12 times daily but you can do fewer feedings say 4 or so but the more frequent the feedings the faster/larger they grow. They also need high quality foods. Check out the section on foods/nutrition.

Water quality is super important with discus. With your frequent feeding comes a lot of waste. What goes in must come out. Only feed what your discus will eat in a few minutes. Left over food will foul your water quickly. Test your water frequently. If you have readings for ammonia or nitrite above 0 you need to do a water change. Check the PH and KH from both your tap and your tank. Discus will live in a variety of water conditions but it MUST be consistant. I would do large daily wc with 4 juvies in a 90 liter tank. Your wc schedule depends on your ammonia and nitrite levels and what maintainance schedule you can commit to. With plants and substrate in your tank collecting any waste and uneaten food you're going to have a lot of cleaning to do but discus are worth it.

Hope this helps. There is alot of good info on this site to read.

well ive had the water tested again an all is ok the ph still bang on theres nowt else in the water above 0 :D i asked at my local shop how they keep there discus and what he does he said most people are only keep them for breeding witch i dont mind about all i like to do we any fish is watch them progress into adults..Any way he told me to test the water all the time and make sure that alls ok and just do a wc every 5-7 days and feed in pattens say 3-4 times at the same time of day
