View Full Version : having trouble with Algae on plants?

Well i've found a really great response to it and the discus dont seem to care at all. they are called Siamese Algae Eaters they are small and skinny but do the job well. i can post some pics if you would like to see them, like i said they changed the look of my tank very quickly

Siamese algae eaters are great for algae like BBA and staghorn and a few others when they are young, but just a warning, they get lazy when they get older and decide fish food tastes much better :p I think it might happen to all of us as we age lol. But yes they are great for a community clean up crew and are not aggressive, only grow about 4", and are nice looking. There are 3 types though and only 1 true SAE. The flying fox is one of them and there is another also that looks similar but not the SAE, so beware of the fake ones and also don't mistake them for the chinese algae eater who can be highly aggressive http://www.petresources.net/fish/article/sae.html
