So I'm headed to the hill country tomorrow. I'm going to be spending a lot of time in lakes and streams and I was thinking about acquiring some plant life. I definitely would want to do some sort of dip for them before putting them with any fish. Anyone have any suggestions or comments about this? Is it a terrible idea, is it safe after a dip ect?

Personaly I would be worried about "hitchikers" being introduces into the tanks. Also depends on your state laws regarding collecting wild plants.

Wild plants that can handle discus tank temps are safe. Just rinse them very well. Most dips cause too much harm to the plants. Most commercially supplied true aquatic plants carry in as many unwanted aquatic insect larvae like damselflies, dragonflies or even water scorpions as you will find in the wild.
