Hello All

All is going fine for week one. Only difficulties that I have had with these little guys is trying to get them to eat something other than bloodworms. They are fussy this far. They are starting to take a little of my beefheart and shrimp mixtures, but very little of the dry stuff. No problems though with the bloodworms. As soon as the bloodworms hit the water and I turn around the cube is gone, lol:) If they aren`t into the varities of food this coming week, I will limit the amount of bloodworms to get them hungry for the beefheart and shrimp mixes:(

I have been feeding 6 - 8 times a day.

First feeding is beefheart (large meal or supposed to be, lol:p)
second bloodworms
third tetra bits (auto feeder - small meal)
fourth shrimp mix (large meal, another supposed to be;))
fifth bloodworms
seventh tetra bits (auto feeder-small meal)
eighth bloodworms(large meal)

They have been receiving two water changes a day---25 - 50% in the morning, depending on the amount of waste left over from the beefheart, and a second one in the evening for 50%

Hi Evelyn,

Just my suggestion....first meal....thaw the beefheart and combine a little bit of flakes/pellets of your choice into the beefheart so they could get a taste of the new food.

Cheers
Francis:)

PS

Forgot to say....the discus are looking good too

Thanks Francis,

I will add a little more pellets to the beefheart mix and give this a try. They are just starting to eat the beefheart and shrimp mixes though as well so we will see how this will work this week.:)

Thanks Eddie,

I sponged a white color on then painted the blue on top of that. These little ones seem to like their new home although they get startled still. As they get use to me being in their tank, I'm sure that will end.:)

Hi Kath,

They were 3 inches when I got them from Al. The five are all about the same size and one is a little bit bigger. He's the bully of the bunch, lol:)

Hi Evelyn, hate to jump in here after that one :D
but, your tank does look great, the discus look great and your pictures are awesome. I'm sure you will be able to get these guys on other food, they seem to be greedy little buggers. :) They look great in your care.:)

Hey Evelyn,

Fish are looking good! They'll come around for you on the food. Guess I got lucky as they like beef heart and flakes along with the tetra bits and bloodworms. Not too keen on the brine shrimp though so I'm working on that one.

Best of luck with your fish.

Hi Evelyn, I have the same problem with mine, love blood worms, shrimp, sometimes eat flake but beef heart and my sea food mix they pick at it. I am trying to feed them that for first meal in the am. They are skittish during water changes but after that I'll give them the blood worms and all is forgotten.

Evelyn:

The tank looks great!! and as for the fish they look to be doing great as well. I am sure that they will get used to the other foods. I find that if I feed bloodworms too often my fish will start to get picky and not eat the Tetra Bits so I have to back off on the worms and feed the pellets in the morning when they are the very hungry. Of course they always go for Al`s BH mix.

Keep you momentum going your doing good.;)

I am jealous of you all. I wish I could participate in such a contest, but here in Belgium and the Netherlands, nobody is interested in doing such a contest, because they all say that it has no advantages. :argue:
Good luck to all the contestants.
